Yumiko Kusakabe is a global business leader with over 20 years of international experience across the United States, Japan, Europe, Latin America, and India. As the Founder and CEO of Impact Access Corporation (Japan) and YK Global Impact LLC (US), she brings a wealth of expertise to her clients, ranging from strategy consulting assignments to director roles.
Beginning her career in Investment Banking at Goldman Sachs Japan Ltd., Yumiko developed her expertise in corporate finance in the telecom industry in one of the largest global offering IPO deal for NTT Docomo.
Since 1999, she worked 15 years at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) as project team leader, structured & project finance specialist. She has originated and lead over US$500 million project cost financing and obtained the Ortiz Mena Award from the IDB President for innovative structuring for developmental projects.
After obtaining her INSEAD Global Executive MBA in 2014, Yumiko founded YK Global Impact LLC and Impact Access Corporation, where she focused on developing new businesses in technology and science, including AI, biotech, healthcare, and IT industry applications across various industries. She has worked extensively with top universities in Japan, including the University of Tokyo, Kyoto University, Hiroshima University, Keio University, and many others.
In 2021, she has been the Organizing Task Force Director at the Institute for AI and Beyond at the University of Tokyo, a joint research program between University of Tokyo and Softbank, a apprx. USD 200million scale program when launched.
Yumiko has also served as the Director for International Business Development and Director for the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of Tokai Tokyo Financial Holdings, "Chubu Open Innovation College," providing open innovation workshops for leading manufacturing CEOs and managers in the Chubu region for frontier business topics.
Additionally, she has been selected as a committee member for various governmental industry committees on reform for R&D in Japan.
As a seasoned business professional, Yumiko has also served as a director and advisor for technology startups in Japan in genomics, climate tech, and AI startups.
